   Hi I was diagnosed with Tietze syndrome yesterday and I’ve been doing a bit of research tonight to see exactly what on earth it is…

   I went to the doctor a couple of weeks ago with the pains in my chest, under my ribs, back etc and heart burn… so the doctor asked a ton of questions, poke and prodded me, told me that he wasn’t sure of his diagnosis, so come back if it doesn’t clear up!! In the mean time here’s some pills for the heartburn, straighten my posture as that might be causing the pain in my ribs and a prescription of co codamol for the pain. As it didn’t clear up, I went back… yesterday... fair play to the fella he’d done some research and I was diagnosed with Tietze… so now at least I know what wrong, thankfully. However I’ve still got this heart burn… probably a daft question but I don’t suppose Tietze causes acid does it or would this be completely unrelated?

   Cara,
   Tietze's itself doesn't cause heartburn. However, medication for Tietze's can (including Advil and the like). Also, stress can contribute to heartburn, and Tietze's can cause stress. So there's a loose relation there, but it isn't a causative one.
