My husband is over 60 and has had what we now know to be undiagnosed Tietze's syndrome for 4 years. At this point it's almost debilitating - he's in extreme pain at least two or three times a day. The problem is we don't yet have a doctor who knows anything about this condition on the case, though we are actively seeking referrals. Should he retire, or should he continue to work as best he can until we can get some proper treatment under way?
Just diagnosed with Tietze's syndrome - should my husband retire from his job?

With the right treatment, your husband should be able to function (at least, better than he is now). What kind of job does he do? If it's physical, that can exacerbate the condition. I guess if he can retire (financially) then I would certainly consider it.
Best,
